Nic graduated from Leeds Beckett University in 2017.  In 2018 she established Clinic Sports Therapy, with the passion to deliver an honest and trustworthy service to patients with a range of sport related injuries.

Let's get to know a bit about Nic and her story!

Football was Nic's sport, from a very young age she captained most boys teams. At 12 years old, away she went to play with a girls team, months later she got picked up by a scout to play at county level. By the age of 16 Nic fell out of love with the sport due to various factors, for a few weeks later to discover that England wanted to see her play, unfortunately her mind was made. After some time away, playing every other sport at school she eventually got back in to football at a recreational level. Chapter closed.

Having suffered a shoulder dislocation at 16 years old and multiple dislocations since (non sports related). She took a keen interest in to injury rehabilitation. At 20 years old, whilst playing netball at university, she dislocated her shoulder for the second time. Months later she was subject to a rather large and complex shoulder operation; to try and stabilise and prevent recurrent dislocations. Within this time frame, her shoulder 'slipped' out multiple times. Around late December 2016 around the time of Nic's operation date, the operation actually got cancelled. So she got to work on some serious exercise rehabilitation work in the gym and at home. She is now happy to report that for nearly 6 years she hasn't had another recurring shoulder dislocation, nor did she ever get under the knife and receive that very invasive surgery. Weekly she has to work on keeping her shoulder strong and stable and for the rest of time she will have to do so, but in her professional opinion and in her circumstances she is more than happy with the outcome.

Changes had to be made to keep fit, healthy and well, and for someone that has competed and been involved in sport for their whole life. What was next? Nic regularly went to the gym, attend classes and the rest. Running competitively never really crossed her mind.

Leeds Beckett University Football Team

Nic completed various placements in various setting whilst at university including professional Male and Female Football and Rugby League teams and in Sports Injury Clinic's around the area of Leeds as well as massaging at endurance events like The Great North Run, The Yorkshire Marathon and Leeds Triathlon.

Nic then founded what was Clinic Sports Therapy she was inundated with runners whether it be for massages or due to injuries. Nic had very little empathy or understanding, so she slipped on some running trainers and got to workLittle to no surprise, she suffered with shin splints, achy calfs, knee pain and the rest. Before long she was pages deep in science and research of running injuries, running mechanics and checking out the next best RACE! Now she can empathise.

It's been a yearly progression from 5km, to 10km, to a PB's in these runs. Then a 8.8 mile race and a few more trail fun runs. A 10 mile trail run around Langsett Reservoir in October on the wettest day of the year was her previous race, what great fun!!! She has then partaken in the trail races of that being the West Yorkshire Winter League, WOW. Maybe a half marathon is next, she doesn't take much convincing.

Nic is different as a therapist as she can empathise, whether it understanding the demands of a sport or understanding complex injuries or niggling ones too.

First thing is first she will listen to you, no matter how long this takes, you need to be understood. She'll ask you various questions to give her the best information to diagnose and help you. She then can assess you through a range of special tests and through your movement. She can take you in to our onsite gym to see how you perform too. You'll then work together to form a shared decision based on what Nic has assessed and you can discuss on how best to go forward. She will provide advice and prescribe rehabilitation through the use of our rehabilitation tracking technology. She will keep in touch with you whilst you are away from the gym and will do whatever it takes to get you back to the sport you love. Being an evidence based practitioner she will always give you the best advice, choose the best rehabilitation and treatment options for you, to take you forward and come back stronger, feel better and hurt less.

Nic has since rebranded and relaunched 'Clinic Sports Therapy' to 'The Sports Therapy Clinic - Morley'. She spent 7 weeks renovating the new location at Unit 1, Rehoboth House, Foster Close, Morley, LS27 9NH. She new what was missing in the local area, and went about setting up two brand-new state of the art treatment rooms and one exclusive private rehabilitation gym. Which is now open and she is proud and excited to invite you to come and check us out. She also has invited passionate sports therapist Kyle Folletti on the journey with her.

She will always make you feel welcome and she treats every patient who comes in to The Sports Therapy Clinic - Morley as a priority during their visit and on subsequent follow ups. She will be devoted to your return to full pain free and physical fitness. She'll always provide a warm welcome and ensure your time spent with us will be educating, rewarding and successful - and maybe have a laugh too!
